Overview
Moon Valley Software is a privately held company that
develops and publishes Web Applications, (Weblications), Client/Server
Applications/Services and Windows Utilities. At the forefront
are its Desktop applications, specializing in utilitainment
(utility + entertainment) products designed to enhance the
Windows desktop.
Since 1995 Moon Valley Software's focus has been to integrate
its desktop and Internet technologies. The company is currently
marketing 9 products and has shipped more than 4,000,000 units.
Geared toward the first-time and novice Windows user, Moon
Valley Software has established a name for itself in the multimedia
industry. Because of the pure enjoyment the products generate,
Moon Valley has received numerous awards over the years including
Top 100 Direct Products in PC Sources, and the WIN100 Awards
in Windows Magazine. The company's best-selling title, ROMaterial,
held the top spot for multimedia CD-ROM titles in the U.S.
for August, September and December according to market research
firm PC Data. In the first of several product releases supporting
the Windows communications software category, the company
released Hitchhiking on the Information Highway in August
of 1994. Despite its sophisticated utilities and free on-line
subscriptions, the product continued the great entertainment
tradition of other Moon Valley products with a wealth of screen
savers, sounds, and system performance gauges.
History
Moon Valley Software was founded in
1988 in Phoenix, Arizona. Originally established to develop
VAR-based medical software, shortly thereafter, the many opportunities
in the multimedia arena were pursued. In October 1991, Moon
Valley released its first retail product, Icon Do-it
In 1994, Moon Valley moved its headquarters
from Phoenix to the Central Coast in California. In 1995,
Moon Valley began a co-development project with the IBM PC
Company which resulted in a strategic bundle on the Aptiva.
This effort, in combination with more recent Internet applications
development bring Moon Valley to its upcoming product releases.
1995, launches co-development/OEM licensing to integrate its
desktop technology with the Internet striking agreements with
IBM, Logitech, Compaq, Lotus, NetCom, Prodigy, Jotter and
Network Commerce. 1997 adding a client/server development
platform. 1998 adds site incubation. 1999 incubates shizznit.com.
2000, Releases Icon Lock-It 2000. 2001, releases CD Ultra,
Icon Lock-iT XP and ROM With a View XP.
